I have read so much about Empuriabrava, and how most houses have a private mooring at the bottom of the garden, but can find no reference about where to enquire about the possibility of hiring a mooring on the canals, (suitable for a canal boat not a sea going boat.)
We have a canal boat in France ,but are no longer able to cruise the canals there, or navigate the locks, due to health problems. We would consider transporting the boat to Spain, and any advice would be much appreciated.
I'm not sure about something specifically for a canal boat; I seem to remember that they are quite wide? The best place to enquire would be at the Capitania in the harbour, they rent out moorings and keep up-to-date lists of what is available. There are also some estate agents who rent out moorings, if you have a look around some of their websites that might help you find what you are looking for. If not Empuriabrava then Santa Margarita might be a better place for you.

Thanks Eva,I'll look into all of that.Smile

I read on Cape Creus Online (http://www.cbrava.com) that an office for boat owners in Empuriabrava has opened at the Centre Civic, with multilingual staff, to handle all queries about boats and anchorages.

We have a motor boat moored in Empuriabrava. The problem you would have is that most of the canals are 'dead ends' and access to the marina is only from the sea. You would have great difficulty in navigating a canal boat in Empuriabrava i.e. trying to turn it around would be almost impossible.
